my day from hell

so i am currently on the advent of my first tour run all by myself and done all by my lonesome (save the interns). last night i found out when i got into boston that only half of my demonstration set up had arrived and UPS had no idea where the other half was. i set out to find something to make a shower out of.

every possible store was closed. as we were leaving a wal mart i hear 'duh duh duh duh' and...flat tire. virginia calls our rental roadside emergency place who proceed to argue with her about whether or not we had a spare on the car. we did not. they didnt believe us. two hours later someone shows up to change our tire only to agree with us that there is in fact, no spare tire. so now it is one in the morning and he puts enough air in the tire to get us the 4 miles to thrifty. it is also one in the morning on the day of my demo and i have no shower for my shower demonstration. i had to be at a radio studio at 6am to do an interview and i was tired. and braindead.

we get back to the hotel sometime around 2 and proceed to sleep for about 3 hours before having to get up and leave for the interview. interview went fine, a bunch of shock jock assholes who when i got in the car and left afterwards commented on my ass on the radio. its ok. whatever.

still no shower.

i am on and off the phone with UPS for a couple hours trying to find out where the shower is and wondering what i did to make them hate me. it is nowhere to be found.

3 hours before the demo, i grab what i have of the shower and go to lowes. walk in the door and yell 'i need help with my wood!' and a nice young man named andrew starts laughing and proceeds to help me. after lots of me being delightful and helpless i now have two guys helping me build a shower. one hour before demo, i have a jerry rigged shower put together and i rush off to get the interns. i get the interns and they spill some chinese food on my new hoodie. thank you.

i get to copley square and begin set up while my coworker runs off to kinkos to pick up our banner (that was lost in the mail as well). demo starts 7 minutes late with a shit ton of duct tape.

the entire demo i am hit on by a 60 year old hippie from oregon. whatever.

i now feel faint. off to albany, check it.
